What can I use to rewind my Scrollino?

A simple pencil is all you need to read, rewind, or even to write in your Scrollino. To rewind the Scrollino, put the pencil inside the Scroller (you will find its openings on both sides of the box) and turn with the pencil. The Scroller works with most standard pens and pencils (hexagonal, rounded, triangular, etc.). If you don’t have any handy, check your kitchen drawers or toolbox! Try a chopstick, a screwdriver, a straw…

Is a pencil included in each Scrollino?

Yes, each Scrollino comes with a wooden pencil. The shape or color may vary in different Scrollino collections, so please check the details in our Online Shop for the particular product you are interested in.

I am left handed, is Scrollino still simple for me to use too?

Yes, of course! Sylvain, the co-inventor of Scrollino, is left-handed, so we know how rare you are :o) He rather wanted to be able to play with Scrollino too, so we made sure that it is just as easy for left-handers to use as right-handers. And if you feel like it, you can even use your feet!

How many pages is my Scrollino®?

Scrollino® is one continuous length of paper, so instead of counting the number of pages, we go by how long it is. That information you can find on each individual Scrollino page in our shop. On average, though, the standard story is around the equivalent of 20-30 pages.

How do I display it?

Scrollino® looks nice on any bookshelf, in profile or facing out, and puts a new spin on a coffee table book. Every Scrollino® has an empty space cut out of the top of the box specifically designed to hang it in a display, or on a nail in a wall, or anything else that sticks out of a vertical surface. The Simple Scrollino® also consists of an empty box in the upper portion of the Scrollino, inside which you can slide that big, tacky, obnoxious magnet from your great-aunt that you only put on the fridge whenever she comes around to visit. That way, it’s on the fridge, being useful, and you don’t have to look at it anymore!

How do I read it? And what is the difference between Scrollino® and Double Scrollino®?

We’ll start by answering your second question first, as the type of Scrollino will change how you read it:

Scrollino® consists of a single, unique rewinding mechanism (The Scroller), a Scrollino cardstock box, and a paper roll to unwind at your own pace. To read the Scrollino simply pull on the tab (Paper Lip) to reveal the story, then rewind it when you’ve finished using a standard pencil or another similar object. A very nice example of this kind is Scrollino I’m Sproutin’ Up. 

Double Scrollino® operates like a magic paper movie reel using a double-rewinding system comprised of two Scrollers. Turning a pencil in the top Scroller reveals the story, games, or illustrations printed in the “viewing screen,” while turning the bottom Scroller rewinds it. A great example of this model is Scrollino Amazing Summer.

How do I interact with my Scrollino?

No cords, electricity, internet connection, or batteries needed to connect with your Scrollino! You can interact with it anytime, anywhere: just hold it in your hands, pull on the paper tab or scroll through it with a pencil. No screen, all fun! Look at our Scrollino page for more details.

Who’s Scrollino for? How old do you have to be to enjoy it?

Can I put stuff inside the box?

Definitely! The box is the perfect size to store the official Scrollino® pencil, or also to store candies, chocolates, cookies, small trinkets, or whatever else you want – which also makes it great as a party or wedding favor! The interior dimensions of available box space are 3.17” x 3.62” x 1.04” (80.5 mm x 92mm x 26.5mm). The colored pencils included in our Scrollino Coloring are stored in this very space, with some room to spare. The Double Scrollino®, however, do not have accessible interior space.

Materials & Sustainability

Is Scrollino eco-friendly?

To act responsibly towards our environment is one of our primary goals. We use high-quality sustainable materials and work with FSC certified paper manufacturers from Europe. The cardstock paper forming the Scrollino® box is acid-free heavyweight paper 130lb/350gsm. The paper roll itself is composed of high-quality natural paper (70g/50lb weight). The Scroller is made from recycled liquid wood which is 100% compostable.

Where is it made?

Scrollino® are carefully crafted in our studio.
The human touch is infused in each fold of the box, in the assembly of the Scroller, in the embossing on the cover. We source our papers mostly from the UK, France, and Italy (from European FSC certified manufacturers). And our specially designed Scrollers are molded in France.

Can I recycle Scrollino? How?

Yes, you can! Personally, we consider Scrollino a precious and beautiful art book object which can inspire you for a long time to come, so you may never want to throw it away :o) Or you can give it away to a library or a school for others to enjoy as well. For our Stationery line, once you have used all of the paper and there is only the Scrollers (the rewinding mechanism) left in the Scrollino, you have 2 options. The Scrollino® itself can go straight in with your paper waste to be recycled. Or if you have a compost nearby, you can remove the Scrollers from the paper box and compost them as they are made from 100% biodegradable recycled liquid wood. Even though it looks like plastic, it is not! :o)

How solid is my Scrollino and how do I store it?

It is made of sturdy heavy cardstock paper with a compartment for the Scrollers. We designed it with the utmost care using eco-friendly and natural materials.
Scrollino is much like a book, so much of the same storage suggestions apply. A dry place without too much direct sunlight (as that yellows paper and fades printed colors – remember that magazine you left open on the porch for a week last summer, how faded it got?) is ideal, be it on a bookshelf, hung on a wall, or sitting on a coffee table. To make sure your Scrollino lasts for many years, be kind to it and rewind it carefully.

My turtle fell asleep on my Scrollino and crushed it! What do I do?

First off, that’s a good-sized turtle you have! You can try popping it back into form, and if that does not work, Scrollino is fully recyclable and compostable (yes, even the Scroller!) and you can get a brand new, pretty one… just keep it far away from your destructively-minded turtle 🙂

Just how colorful is it?

We use our own full-color printing technique Scrollinography™, so the possibilities are just as endless as the Scrollino® itself! A great example is the colorful Scrollino ABC ZOO. Plus, the pigment we use is non-toxic and environmentally-friendly. Each Scrollino is different, so please visit our shop to discover individual Scrollino® in more detail.

How long are the stationery Scrollino®?

They are about 2.2 yards / 2 meters long – see Stationery product page for each of them for more details. Each Scrollino® differs in length, so please see the product information in our Online Shop for details.

Audience & Languages

Who’s Scrollino for? How old do you have to be to enjoy it?

Scrollino® is great for any age, though we recommend Scrollino for ages 3 and up, due to the small parts forming the Scroller mechanism. Most of the Scrollino are for ages 5 and up, for those who have learned how to use a writing utensil, though some Scrollino are more appropriate for adults (depending on the story or activity topic). Regardless, Scrollino brings out your inner child, gets you creative and makes you want to share your experience with others.

What language is Scrollino in?

Most of our Scrollino® come in both English and French (if not written otherwise). The language of each Scrollino® in our shop is clearly marked in the Details section of each product page, and the other languages available will always be noted in the “Also available in” or “Mix and Match” section of the product page details. Other language versions or special limited editions may come, so stay tune to get the information on time.

Help! I need a gift for my great-great-aunt! Is Scrollino right for her?

Of course! Scrollino® is for everyone, so go on, get one for her (and yourself, while you’re at it) and have fun! Note: We would recommend for example Scrollino For My Notes as she can write in her shopping lists, recipes and other practical stuff.

Is there a tactile version?

We do not offer any Scrollino® using Braille or other similar tactile methods of reading at this time. However, we would love to develop this possibility in the future.

My kid is chewing on my Scrollino and getting spit all over it. What’s going to happen?

Kids are hardy creatures, and our paper and ink are harmless. (Extra fiber, anyone?) Just keep the Scroller parts out of their mouths, as they are small enough to choke on, which is why we do not recommend Scrollino for children under 3 years old. Oh, you’re more worried about your Scrollino surviving the encounter? Well, that depends – it is made of paper, so if the kid has chewed it all up, it’s not going to look like new ever again. But it can still be enjoyed, usually. If not, you can recycle the paper and compost the Scroller – it’s entirely environmentally friendly! Will it be translated into Spanish or another language?

At this time, we cannot guarantee translations into languages other than English and French. However, we can offer other language versions for custom made Scrollino® for your business, for a special workshop, an exhibition, or else. Interested? Payment & Shipping

Do you accept Mastercard or Visa?

Yes, we accept Credit Cards / Debit Cards, Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, Local Credit Cards and PayPal payments. Note: All payments are made through the secure PayPal service.

Do I need a PayPal account to make a purchase on your website?

No, you do not need a PayPal account; you can pay with your credit or debit card directly on the checkout page. While checking out, you cand choose as well the PayPal service and you will be redirected to the secure PayPal service.

How do I know that my order has been successful and will be shipped out?

You will receive an e-mail confirmation from us as soon as you have successfully placed your order. You will receive a shipping confirmation email as soon as the package has been handed to the carrier for delivery. If you do not see the email, please check your junk/spam mailbox or the social/promotions tabs, as it might have gone there.

Do I need to create an account to make an order? Or can I order in your Online Shop without an account?

You do not need to create an account in order to order. However, it is more practical to create an account. By creating an account you will be able to shop faster, update your information and delivery address, and keep track of the orders you have previously made. My kid decided to order Scrollino for the pet turtle. How do I cancel/change the order?

Please contact us as soon as possible and we will do our best to cancel or change the order. We do have a 1-2 business day processing time, but the sooner you let us know by contacting sales@scrollino.com, the more likely it is that we can cancel the order. If we have already shipped the order, then we will work with you to resolve the matter.

Do you ship to my country?

We ship all around the world! We are not aware of any country exceptions from our post office. However, you can verify your destination availability once you have added selected items to the Cart before you checkout, and at the same time see the shipping costs for your destination.

What is the delivery time of my order?

Purchased goods will be ready for mailing in 24-48 hours (1-2 business days). As the postal delivery speed varies greatly from one country to another, the timing varies. As a general rule of thumb, you can expect the following shipping times for your order:
France: 2-4 business days
Europe: 4-5 business days
US and Overseas: 5-7 buisiness days

What if the estimated delivery date has passed and I still don’t have my order?

Please note that Estimated Delivery Dates are estimates only, and are not guaranteed. There are many factors that can affect the delivery of your order. In some countries packages are occasionally left with neighbors, a building manager, or are placed somewhere relatively safe such as on your porch, or sometimes in a less evident place such as your backyard, so please check first with your neighbors or family members or your local post office. Do you provide gift box options?

We do not offer special gift boxes at the moment, but please check our Online Shop for updates. However, our nice 1 or 2 Scrollino® boxes offer an elegant presentation. For shipping purposes, we cover the box with a strip of paper upon which all the necessary mailing information is printed, then protect it in a sleeve of shrink wrap plastic. That way when you receive it, you can just take off the plastic and address information, leaving the clean box intact for easy gifting. But, please take into account that our boxes are made mainly for delivery purposes, so we cannot guarantee that they will stay pristine during the delivery process.

I am from the US – will I have to pay customs or import charges?

Our shipping costs do not include additional charges that can possibly apply. In Europe (EU) you should not be charged any additional fees. It is not in our power to tell you the price of the possible customs charges in other countries as it can vary according to each country or region.

Do you also have a physical store?

No, not at the moment. We often travel with Scrollino® and have pop-up shops, so you may want to check out our events page. Also many nice places have Scrollino, and the list is still growing. We organized our favorite stores by country so you can see if there are any near you. If not, you can ask your bookseller to order Scrollino for you, and we will be happy to ship anywhere!

We have a design gift shop, how can we order Scrollino?

We love to see the Scrollino® in new shops. We will be happy to work with you and to send you our up-to-date Scrollino® Catalog with our wholesale prices. Please write us at sales@scrollino.com for more information.

How do you ship the Scrollino?

We have cardboard boxes designed to perfectly fit 1 or 2 Scrollino®, which are slim enough to pass as regular mail and solid enough to protect the Scrollino®. The same applies to our Refill sets. We also have larger boxes to fit larger numbers of Scrollino®.

What is the biggest advantage of Scrollino?

What is the minimum order for B2B Scrollino?

We can customize and produce Scrollino® from 1 copy, just keep in mind that with such a special order, you will pay more for the designing part and preparation works then for the actual production. A very reasonable order for events or small businesses is 100 or 200 copies, and we can produce and ship any quantity you need. What is the ideal paper length for a “business” Scrollino?

We recommend approx. 20 inches (50 cm) – long enough to tell a story about your brand, to describe your product or to create an original corporate gift, but short enough to stay practical. The B2B Scrollino® usually have a different purpose from our Scrollino® editions and stationary, so unless you would like to create an illustrated story or an artwork, we recommend keeping it short (1 yard / 1 meter maximum)!

How long does production take from concept to finished product?

The conceptual process time can vary greatly according to the complexity of your project, and the production times depends on the quantity ordered, on its special features, etc. Please contact us at b2b@scrollino.com – we will be happy to discuss your project and send you detailed quotes, with production/delivery time estimates as well.

How will I get my Scrollino order?

Usually, we ship it to you well-packed via La Poste (the French post office), but we can arrange other methods of shipment as well. The pricing and delivery time depends mostly on your budget needs, the type of project it is (design to production/assembly) and the quantity ordered. Each Scrollino can be either protected by a transparent film or packed in a Gift Box.

Is the pencil included in each customized Scrollino?

Yes, each Scrollino® comes with a natural wooden pencil, unless agreed otherwise. It is also possible to customize the pencil, with a different color or your logo printed on it.

We would like to invite you to organize a workshop in our museum / art gallery / library / school. How can we get in touch?

We love to travel around the world and we’ll be happy to help you realize a Scrollino® workshop! However, it might not always be possible for us to come to you. In this case, we can offer you our workshop-ready Scrollino For My Drawings, Scrollino Origami, Scrollino My First Comic or Scrollino My Superhero.
